About 12 years ago the local historian Stavros Kouvaris discovered a striking stone block in an olive grove. The location on a hill reminded him well at the archaeological site of Mycenae and so he reported the discovery to the Greek archaeologist Eleni Konstolakis-Jiannopoulou. She began to dig there and discovered a large, well-built dome grave dating from about 1400-1200 BC. The finds from there are now  displayed at the Museum of Poros. About 50 m south of it, she discovered a probably older dome grave and a prehistoric sacrificial altar in a circle. Also interesting is a peak plateau near the tombs with an ancient settlement.
