Our tours to Cos and Nisyros
In 2000, I visited Nisyros for the first time with my friend Lorenz Hurni as part of the GEOWARN program on a geological tour. In the following years, I gradually developed a program of hiking and study tours on this fascinating volcanic island, which I later offered together with Tom Pfeiffer through VolcanoDiscovery.
The small travel groups were especially enthusiastic about the landscape and nature of the volcanic island of Nisyros. For organizational reasons, I integrated the neighboring island of Kos into this program. It is always good to spend some time on Kos for arrival and departure, and of course, Kos has a lot to offer as well — but my favorite will always remain Nisyros.
We often stayed with my friend Antonis Nikolitsis at his small hotel Three Brothers, the ideal place from which to explore the island on foot. The highlights are, of course, the Volcano Museum in Nikia and the caldera with the Stefanos and Polyvotis craters. Other beautiful and romantic destinations include the mysterious Nymphios Valley and the “Hanging Garden of Diavatis.” Archaeologically, both Kos and Nisyros have much to offer, and not everything has yet been fully researched.

Warm regards and enjoy exploring!
